Submitting LLM chat logs

Every team member who used an LLM must submit the transcript of every chat used into llm_logs/<uni>/.

Web chats

For every chat, after your last message in it:

1. Create a share link that anyone with the link can open (see the table).
2. Open the link in a private/incognito window. You should see the whole chat, from your first prompt to the last answer. If it asks you to sign in, the link is not public.
3. Add the link to llm_logs/<your_uni>/links.txt with a short note.

A share link is a snapshot: messages you send after creating it are not in it. If you keep chatting, update the link before submitting.

Tool	How to share
ChatGPT	Share (top right) → Create link (or Update link). Submit the chatgpt.com/share/... link, not the chatgpt.com/c/... address in your browser bar.
Claude.ai	Share (top right) → set access so anyone with the link can view → copy the claude.ai/share/... link.
Gemini	Share (top, next to the title) → copy the link. If you chat more, share again and submit the new link.
Google AI Mode	Open the thread from your AI Mode history → Share → copy the link.
Copilot	Share icon at the top right of the conversation (the one under an answer shares only that answer) → copy the link.
Perplexity	Share (top right) → set to Anyone with the link → copy the link.

Coding agents

We provide a helper script that copies all your coding-agent transcripts for your repo into llm_logs/<your_uni>/. We encourage you to use it: it’s the easiest way to back up your transcripts. You are still responsible for submitting complete transcripts for every agent you used: check that it found every session. If it has a bug or doesn’t support your agent, email the course staff at w4118@lists.cs.columbia.edu before the deadline.

It supports Claude Code, Codex, Google Antigravity, Cursor, GitHub Copilot CLI, VS Code Copilot Chat, and Cline/Roo Code. If you’d rather copy the files yourself, they’re here:

Don’ts

• Don’t submit a summary, a translation, or anything an AI wrote about the chat. Don’t ask the AI to “export” or rewrite the chat: it rewrites its own answers.
• Don’t submit private links. If we can’t access your links, you will receive a 0.
• Don’t delete chats until the end of the regrade period. Deleting a chat kills its link.
• Don’t use a shared account, or one whose history gets wiped.
• One link per chat. If you branched a chat into several chats, submit every branch.
• Chats in any language are fine. We will translate them if needed.
